Gardner woman dies in crash
GARDNER — Carol M. Jones, of rural Gardner, died from injuries she sustained in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Gorman Road and East Stonewall Road on April 27.
A preliminary investigation indicated the 50-year-old Jones was traveling in a Dodge Durango on Stonewall when her vehicle was struck by a northbound GMC pickup truck on Gorman at 10 a.m., according to Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in Jones’ vehicle was taken to Morris Hospital and later transferred to Peoria St. Frances Hospital.
There are yield signs on Gorman for north and south traffic, Callahan said. Stonewall, which is east and west, has no traffic signs.
The driver and passenger in the pickup were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries and released.
The crash remains under investigation by Callahan’s office and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department.
