Raging fire destroying house south of Pocatello; firefighters calling in reinforcements

September 14, 2017 GMT

POCATELLO — A house south of the city is being gutted by a raging fire.

The blaze was reported around 11:20 a.m. Thursday at a home on Pepper Grass Point in the area of Gibson Jack Road.

Authorities said at this point they do not believe anyone has been injured.

Firefighters from the Pocatello and Pocatello Valley fire departments are battling the fire and are calling in additional fire units because the blaze is burning out of control.

Firefighters are also trying to make sure the blaze does not spread into the adjacent brush and become a wildfire.

The public should stay away from the fire scene until firefighters have the blaze extinguished.

Authorities have not yet commented on what could have caused the fire.
