Stop! These sugary drinks can lead to premature death!
A new study from Harvard found that people who drink more sugar-sweetened beverages had a greater risk of premature death. This includes carbonated and non-carbonated soft drink, fruit drinks and sports drinks. These drinks are the largest source of added sugars in the U.S. diet.
The study was based on 80,647 women and 37,716 men over a two year period. The study concluded that people who drank two or more sugary drinks a day had a 21% increased risk of early death. People who drink more than two sugar drinks are 31% more likely to die from cardiovascular disease.
The best thing to do is substitute these drinks with water.
