GREAT FALLS — Southwestern Oregon Community College transfers Tatum Sparks and Kaylynn Hixenbaugh will be joining the University of Great Falls women’s wrestling team for its first season in 2017-18.

Sparks is a two-time All-American in the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association. As a freshman, the Othello, Washington, native was sixth at 155 at the national tourney. She was eighth as a sophomore. She was a state champion her junior and senior seasons.

Hixenbaugh qualified for the national tournament last year at 136. She is a two-time Oregon State high school girls wrestling champion.

“To sign these two individuals gives us instant credibility on what we are trying to do on the women’s side of wrestling, and that is to become one of the best in the country,” UGF Director of Wrestling Caleb Schaeffer said.
