Wind chill warning: Allen, Adams, Huntington, Kosciusko, Wabash, Wells, Whitley

January 1, 2018 GMT

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning for Allen County and six other northeast Indiana counties from 10 p.m. tonight to noon Tuesday.

The counties are under a lesser wind chill advisory until then, the weather service said in a statement. Other counties in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio are, too.

The weather service warned counties along and south of U.S. 30 in northeast Indiana, also including Adams, Huntington, Kosciusko, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties.

The warning means the combination of very cold air and the wind will create dangerously low wind-chill values, the weather service said. It said frostbite can occur quickly and hypothermia or death can occur if precautions are not taken.

Wind chills are expected to fall to between 25 below zero and 30 below zero tonight in the warning area, the weather service said. Other areas of northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio are expected to get wind chills of 15 below zero to 25 below zero.
