AMA motocross races set for Havasu this weekend

December 6, 2017

Round eight of the District 37 American Motorcyclist Association Big 6 Grand Prix series is coming to Lake Havasu City this weekend.

The event takes place at Crazy Horse on the Island Track and will be hosted by the local 928mx/Lake Havasu Motocross Park and co-hosted by Viking MC out of Southern California.

Danette Gerding owns 928mx/Lake Havasu Motocross Park with her husband Don on the south end of Lake Havasu at SARA Park. According to Gerding, this will be the first AMA racing event the area has seen and also the biggest.

“The event is so big that it does not even fit on our track,” Gerding said. “There is going to be about 1500 entries with events from youth to professional. We are excited to bring an event this size to the many motocross enthusiasts of this town.”

This is the last chance for racers to accrue as much points possible as this will be the final round of the AMA Big 6 Grand Prix.

Gates open Friday at 9 a.m. and racing starts Saturday and ends Sunday along with motocross gear and apparel vendors with food and more.
