BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) _ Stan Gelbaugh completed touchdown passes of 33 and 13 yards to Andre Riley in the fourth quarter Monday night to lead the London Monarchs to a 27-0 victory over the Birmingham Fire in the World League of American Football.

Gelbaugh completed 22 of 32 passes for 302 yards to lead the Monarchs (4-0), who held the Fire to 112 total yards. Birmingham is 1-3.

David Smith’s 6-yard scoring run 6:28 into the game gave the Monarchs a 7-0 lead. Phil Alexander added a 27-yard field goal midway through the second period for a 10-0 halftime lead.

Gelbaugh’s scoring tosses came just 2:43 apart early in the final quarter to clinch the victory. Alexander added a second 27-yard field goal for the final margin.

A crowd of about 18,500 booed Fire quarterback Brent Pease, who completed only 4 of 15 passes for 22 yards in the first half. Birmingham didn’t earn a first down until the first play of the second quarter, when Pease completed a 5-yard toss to Steve Avery.

The crowd began chanting for backup quarterback Eric Jones with about three minutes left in the first half, and he replaced Pease with 10:48 left in the game.
