Watch: ‘Kong: Skull Island’ Trailer Looks Spectacular

July 25, 2016 GMT

If the first “Kong: Skull Island” trailer is to be believed, no one is going to be seeing a zipper up the back of the guy in the Kong suit.

Showing as much “Apocalypse Now” influence as any from any King Kong movie -- and even more action -- the clip shows what looks like a new King Kong origins film, only darker and more spectacular.

What does the new version of the big guy look like? That’s apparently going to have to wait.

We do see Samuel L. Jackson, whose character is seen threatening John Goodman’s character with a gun, demanding to now what they’ve gotten themselves into.

Brie Larson stars as a wildlife photographer and Tom Hiddleston as a man who is on his way to Skull Island on a mission when he runs up against the biggest, baddest ape the world has ever seen.

And everyone looks scared.

Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures debuted the trailer at Comic-Con in San Diego last weekend. “Skull Island” is likely an effort to introduce Kong to a crossover, monster movie universe where he will eventually run across Godzilla and some other notable, rebooted monster movie characters.

“Kong Skull Island” hits theaters March 10, 2017.
