BOSTON (AP) — Mayor Thomas Menino and his wife will receive an award for their work on domestic violence issues.

Jane Doe Inc. will present the Delahunt Award for Extraordinary Public Service to Mayor Thomas Menino and first lady Angela Menino. A ceremony will be held Thursday at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel.

The award recognizes the Meninos' work to prevent domestic violence, including co-founding Mayors Against Gun Violence with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, establishing one of the first municipal workplace domestic violence policies and helping to start Employers Against Domestic Violence in Boston.

Former U.S. Rep. William Delahunt and leaders in the domestic violence field are expected to attend the ceremony.
