HP identifies victim of fatal crash

BELLE FOURCHE — A 25-year-old Belle Fourche man has been identified as the person who died Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash that occurred east of Belle Fourche.

A 1999 Ford F-350 pickup was westbound on South Dakota Highway 34. The driver tried to pass a pickup hauling a flatbed trailer and struck an eastbound 2007 Volkswagon Jetta.

Jeremiah Chyba, who was driving the Jetta, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Trystin Goff, 24, of Rapid City was driving the pickup. He sustained minor injuries and was transported to Spearfish Regional Hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Spearfish Ambulance Service.
