Rock River baseball: McCann, Jacobson lead Milton past Neosho
NEOSHO — Sam McCann and Jeff Jacobson each drove in two runs for the Milton Raptors in a 7-4 Rock River League Southern Division win over the Neosho Rockets on Sunday at Village Park.
McCann went the distance on the mound for Milton (8-7 RRL), allowing four earned runs on seven hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks. He added two hits including a two-run single in the fifth. Jacobson had three of Milton’s 11 hits including a two-run homer in the fourth.
Zack Lauersdorf started for Neosho (10-7 RRL) and took the loss, allowing six earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and four walks over five innings. Shaun Panetti pitched one-third of an inning and gave up one unearned run while striking out one. Nick Balmer threw 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits with one strikeout. Travis Wessels pitched the final inning, allowing no runs on one hit with three strikeouts.
Brent Young had a pair of doubles and drove in a run for the Rockets. Brandon Egnarski, Alex Lawrence and Lawrence Petri had the team’s other RBIs.
Neosho hosts the Landtech Drakes in a Tri-County Nite League game on Saturday, then closes out the regular season with a Rock River League game at the Janesville Aces on Sunday.
