ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) _ Center Roy Tarpley scored 19 points and was one of four Michigan players in double figures Saturday as the second-ranked Wolverines romped to a 91-68 non- conference college basketball victory over Florida Southern.

Michigan, 6-0, jumped out to a 20-2 lead and the Moccasins never could get closer to 16 points thereafter. The Wolverines completely shut down the Mocs’ offense with 10 blocked shots and seven steals in the first half while running up a 52-24 lead at intermission.

Tarpley had seven blocks over the first 20 minutes and finished with 10. Gary Grant had five steals for Michigan..

The Michigan reserves saw extended playing time because of the big lead, and freshman Glen Rice had his second impressive outing of the season, finishing with 14 points.

Florida Southern, 1-2, was led by John McNulty with 15 points. The Mocs didn’t play anyone taller than 6-foot-7 and were unable to match up with the Wolverines, who at one point didn’t have a player under 6-5 on the court.

However, Michigan only enjoyed a 44-37 rebounding edge over the Mocs.

The Wolverines, who now have won 22 successive regular season games, led by as much 87-52 before Florida Southern went on a run against the Michigan subs.
