DENTON, Texas _ An attorney for former All-Star and World Series MVP pitcher John Wetteland says he’s innocent of charges in Texas that he sexually abused a child. The former Texas Rangers act made his first court appearance Monday following his indictment in March on three counts of continuous sexual assault of a child. CONCORD, N.H. _ A judge in New Hampshire has set $50,000 bail for a former New England Patriots player, who lives in Texas, and is accused of violating a protective order. Greg Spires said he was innocent in a video arraignment Monday from jail in Concord, New Hampshire. The 44-year-old Spires, of Cypress, Texas, was a defensive end who played for the Patriots from 1998-2000. He remained in the NFL until 2007, playing one season for the Cleveland Browns and six for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. SENT: 130 words, with photos. Moving on news & sports lines.
