Devils will travel to Kingman for 3A West contest: River Valley trying to rebound from Northwest Christian rout
MOHAVE VALLEY — The Dust Devils will play at 7 tonight at Kingman Academy against the Tigers in an Arizona Interscholastic Association 3A West Region football game.
The Tigers are 2-5 overall, 1-1 in region, and the Dust Devils are 2-5 overall, 2-1 in region.
“They’ve got some size and a couple good athletes,” said River Valley head coach Jonathan Clark by email.
Tigers wide receivers Trevor Lowery and Nate Perea impressed the River Valley head coach.
Clark added: “(It) seems that they’ve had some changes at quarterback, so I think that’s hurt them offensively.”
The Tigers average about 10 points per game, Clark said.
The Wickenburg High School Wranglers destroyed the visiting Kingman Academy squad 46-6 on Oct. 5.
Tigers sophomore quarterback Charlie Anderson completed 5-of-14 passes for 75 yards with three interceptions against Wickenburg.
“We’ve had two really good practices,” Clark said. (Wednesday) wasn’t so great, and we are hoping to cap off a good week tomorrow.
“It would be nice to get back in the win column.”
The Crusaders crushed the visiting Dust Devils 55-0 at Northwest Christian High School on Oct. 5.
Clark said his Dust Devils are relatively healthy with the exception of a “couple tweaked ankles, but we are good at all positions.”
Junior quarterback Seth Cristy, sophomore running back Richard Vega and senior wide receiver Logan Knox have led the Dust Devils’ offense this season, and senior linebacker Cole Shott, junior defensive end Brenan Gladeau and senior defensive end Anthony Gorrell have led River Valley’s defense this year.
