San Francisco 66, Cal State Hayward 40
SAN FRANCISCO (AP)_ Gerald Walker scored 21 points to lead San Francisco to a 66-40 victory over Cal State Hayward Tuesday night.
The Dons (4-3) overcame their own poor early shooting and the slowdown tactics of the smaller Division II Pioneers (3-6) to take their first lead, 12-11, with 5:33 remaining in the first half.
It was not until they trailed 46-24 with ten minutes remaining that Cal State Hayward abandoned its stall tactic. When they finally did, they made four consecutive 3-pointers.
For San Francisco, Zerrick Campbell had 16 points and 13 rebounds. John Duggan also had 16 points, 14 in the second half. Freshman Jason Johnson, getting his first start at center, added nine points, hitting all four of his field goal attempts.
Terry Basey led the Pioneers with 14 points, hitting five of six from the floor, including three 3-pointers. Allen Fletcher added nine points, on three 3-pointers.
