Police: County jail inmate leaves on work release
A Somerset man has been charged with escaping from the Somerset County Jail.
Chad Lewis Halle, 30, left the jail Monday on work release to go to a local boot company. He was to return to the jail at 5:15 p.m., but failed to do so, according to borough police.
“Shortly thereafter the SCJ called to report that Halle did not return,” police wrote on the department’s Facebook page.
Police filed a felony escape charge against Halle on Monday.
Halle was being held in the county lockup on various misdemeanor and summary charges. He was to be sentenced April 30 on a conspiracy to commit retail theft charge.
Police said Halle is known to frequent the Coleman apartment complex at 800 E. Main St. and Stairs Restaurant, his previous place of employment.
Anyone with information regarding Halle is asked to contact the police department at 814-445-1525 or by calling 911.
