Favorite thing about your sport: Just the camaraderie with everybody. And Friday Night Lights. You just can’t beat it with all your buddies.

Future plans after high school: Hopefully, attend college. I don’t know what I’m going to major in yet.

Week 3 Pro Picks winner: Bud Talbot

The Herald-Argus Pro Picks contest continued with Week 3 of the National Football League. Only one person in our contest got less than four games wrong, and that was Bud Talbot of La Porte, who went 12-3. Talbot got the Cardinals-Bills, Steelers-Eagles and Falcons-Saints games wrong. Talbot, along with every weekly winner, receives $50. Entries appear in The Herald-Argus on Mondays.

Pumpkin Festival 3-on-3 basketball tourney

Westville’s annual Pumpkin Festival 3-on-3 basketball tourney will be on Sunday. They’ll have a fourth-grade and under boys and girls division, fifth- and sixth-grade boys and girls division, seventh- and eighth-grade boys and girls division, ninth- and 10th-grade boys and girls division, and 11th- and 12th-grade boys and girls division. If there isn’t enough girls teams, they’ll add them to the boys division. This year, they’re adding a Jr. High and High School boys and girls 3-point shootout, and a slam dunk contest.

Registration will start around 7:30 a.m., games around 8:15 a.m. Cost is $75 per team. This is a fundraiser for Westville’s athletic department. For more info, contact Dale Lake at (219) 608-7180, or email lake_dale@yahoo.com.

Slicer Open golf scramble

The 12th annual Slicer Open golf scramble will take place on Saturday at Beechwood Golf Course in La Porte. Lunch will be at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cost is $75 per golfer or $300 for a foursome with lunch, beverages, a Slicer basketball shirt, greens fees and cart included in the fee. Proceeds benefit the La Porte High School boys basketball team. Glow Ball Night Golf winners

Valley Hills Golf Course in Rolling Prairie hosted Glow Ball Night Golf on Saturday. The winners were: Jeff Ware, Chris Dill, Sheri Dill, and Ted Martin. They all won 2017 season memberships to Valley Hills. The next Glow Ball Night Golf will be on Friday, Oct. 7. Tee off is at 7 p.m. Cost is $20 per person. Run For Jake

The annual Run For Jake 5K fun run and walk will take place at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Legacy Hills Golf Course in La Porte. The cost is $26 with proceeds benefitting the Play For Jake Foundation and Kiwanis Club of La Porte.
