Twitter verifies Reading’s Steak-umm after months-long campaign for legitimacy
After months of absurdist humor, bizarre memes and a demanding hashtag, Steak-umm finally saw the fruits of its labor Monday: Twitter verification.
The frozen sliced steak brand that’s owned by Reading-based Quaker Maid Meats launched a campaign nearly four months ago to get a blue check mark on its Twitter profile, which serves as a badge of legitimacy that the social media company grants to company brands, journalists and famous people. A tweet sent this morning from @steak_umm indicated Twitter finally granted it verified status — the #VerifySteakUmm effort was a success.
