ANIMAL CONNECTION: SPCA Albrecht Center Thrift Shop hosting holiday fundraising shopping events

October 30, 2018

On Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., the SPCA Albrecht Center in Aiken will host its last event of the year with a “jolly” good time. Join staff, volunteers, board members and supporters at the SPCA’s Mitchell Plaza Thrift Store, located at 1589 Whiskey Road in Aiken, where the facility will host “Where Shopping Saves Lives.”

The evening will feature live music by Rick Scott, beer and wine, appetizers, fantastic door prizes, an ugly Christmas sweater contest, all new winter apparel and the grand opening of the store’s Christmas Décor Shop. There will be special pricing for event guests on select items, that night only.

The Mitchell Plaza Thrift Store will be closed on Monday, Nov. 5, and Tuesday, Nov. 6, until the event, in preparation of the Holidays Happening’s Christmas Décor Shop Grand Opening.

Tickets to the Holiday Happening are available at the SPCA Albrecht Center at 199 Willow Run Road in Aiken and at the SPCA’s two Thrift Store locations: 1589 Whiskey Road (in the Mitchell Plaza) and 404 Richland Ave. E. Tickets are just $10 in advance and $20 at the door.

Raising donations for homeless animals

Through this event, the SPCA Albrecht Center hopes to raise around $7,000 for the homeless animals in Aiken’s community to assist with veterinary care and supplies.

If the goal is reached, this could provide the animals with nearly 95 spay and neuter surgeries, 280 microchips or 15 heartworm treatments. With your generosity, Aiken’s homeless and neglected animals can continue to get the care they need and the loving homes they deserve. One hundred percent of the event proceeds will go toward this goal.

SPCA thrift stores

The SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare operates two area thrift stores that offer everything from pet care items and boutique clothing, to jewelry, furniture and more.

One hundred percent of the revenue from every sale at the thrift stores goes to the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare to help feed, treat, shelter and find loving homes for the animals in their care.

Supporters can bring donations to the thrift stores or call the SPCA to schedule a free pickup if you have larger donations: 803-648-6863. A donation tax receipt will be provided.
