Reading nooks created at CYS
CYS nooks: Somerset County Children & Youth Services now has two reading nooks. Jackie Phillippi of CYS said the areas will be used by kids to read while they are at the facility in Somerset. Kids can also take books home, and caseworkers can take books out when they go on house visits. The Somerset Rotary Club donated $450 to purchase baskets and chairs for the reading areas. Books were collected by SCI-Laurel Highlands. Some were used for a reading program involving inmates and their children and others were donated to the agency. Rotary president-elect Mike Kuhn, Rebecca Witt of SCI-Laurel Highlands, Kim Logan of CYS and Phillippi are shown filling a basket with books delivered Wednesday from the prison.
