In their world

Ted Risch, technology teacher for North Star Central Elementary, has been using robots in kindergarten through fourth-grade computer classes to teach students basic programming and coding skills. Using giant robots such as the almost-child-size Meccanoid to quarter-sized robots that travel on tablets, Risch said kids have to plan each step to get their robots to complete tasks. “It’s their world,” he said. “They feel very comfortable grabbing a tablet or a phone and they know exactly what to do . . . so we’re doing things that are in their world.” See video highlights of his Friday classes at www.dailyamerican.com.
