State Police to investigate cause of officer’s death
LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — State police are investigating the death of a Lewiston police officer in his home.
Officials say 33-year-old Nicholas Meserve had been employed with the Lewiston Police Department since 2009 and worked at the Androscoggin County Jail before that.
The Sun Journal reports that local police say there was no sign of violence and a cause of death is not yet known. The body was discovered Friday evening.
Online tributes shone a light on Meserve’s compassion toward others, his dedication to his work and his love for his daughter. Maine State Police are investigating the cause of death.
