More than 38,000 FirstEnergy customers in Northeast Ohio without power amid severe thunderstorms

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- More than 38,000 FirstEnergy customers across seven Northeast Ohio counties are without power Saturday, according to the company’s website.

The afternoon thunderstorm tracked east across Lorain, Cuyahoga and Lake counties, with 16,450 customers in Cuyahoga County losing power along with 16,504 in Lake County and 8,330 in Lorain County, as of 5:45 p.m.  

There are also hundreds without power across Ashtabula, Geauga, Summit and Portage counties.

FirstEnergy estimates power will be restored to most customers by 4 p.m. Sunday.
