Glencross, Curran Combine for Gem for Groton-Dunstable

Nate Glencross and Riley Curran combined on a 1-hitter as Groton-Dunstable beat Tyngsboro, 9-2, in a Midland-Wachusett League cross-over baseball game on Thursday.

Glencross started on the mound and gave up 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Curran earned the win on the mound and didn’t allow a hit while pitching the final 4.2 innings.

GROTON-DUNSTABLE 9, TYNGSBORO 2. Isaac Zhang paced Groton-Dunstable’s offense with 3 hits, 2 RBI and 1 run scored.

Will Bordes (1 run, 1 RBI) and Jared Whitby (3 runs, 1 RBI) had 2 hits each for the Crusaders.

Kasey Griffiths had a double with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored for Groton-Dunstable (8-4).


Nolan Michaud had Tyngsboro’s hit and scored a run.

LOWELL CATHOLIC 10, CATHEDRAL 0. Kevin Galligani had 9 strikeouts and only allowed 1 hit in 5 innings as Lowell Catholic blanked Cathedral in a Catholic Central League game.

Peter Sawyer had 2 hits and 2 RBI while pacing Lowell Catholic’s high-powered offense.

Nate Sayer had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in 1 run, while Kyle DeRoma had 1 hit and 2 RBI for the Crusaders (6-3).

Alex Graves chipped in with 3 hits.

Liam Fisher and Josh Sayer knocked in 1 run each, and David Gill and Drew Martin each had a hit and a run scored.

HAVERHILL 8, BILLERICA 6. Mike Bragg led the way for Billerica in this MVC Division 2 game with 3 hits, 2 stolen bases and 1 RBI.

Matt Donovan notched 2 hits with 1 run scored and 1 RBI, while Anthony Mancuso finished with 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.

Ryan Murphy 2 hits, including a double, and 2 RBI for the Indians (3-13).

WESTFORD 6, CONCORD 2. Westford Academy got a strong effort on the mound from Adam Batchelder and Brian Alibrandi while beating Concord in a DCL game.

Batchelder was the winning pitcher, allowing 1 hit and 2 runs while striking out 4 in 4 innings. Alibrandi gave up 2 hits and had 4 strikeouts while pitching 3 shutout innings for the save.

Tyler Guillemette 2 hits, including a 2-run single for the Grey Ghosts (9-5).

Jason Fitzgerald (1 RBI) and Chris Zeoli had 2 hits each.

Kindred Atwood chipped in with a 2-run double.

WAKEFIELD 6, WILMINGTON 1. Wakefield held Wilmington to just 3 hits in this Middlesex League game.

Bailey Smith had a single, stole his 24th base of the season and scored Wilmington’s run.

Gavin Kelsey (1 RBI) and Chris Stokes each ripped a double for the Wildcats (6-7).

GREATER LOWELL TECH 5, WHITTIER TECH 2. Ben Bardzik drew a bases loaded walk to force home the winning run and Jeremy Gray knocked in 2 insurance runs with a single as Greater Lowell Tech beat Whittier Tech in nine innings in a Commonwealth Athletic Conference game.


Trailing 2-1 in the fifth, Greater Lowell tied the game when Matt Gausette scored on a wild pitch.

Bardzik earned the win in relief, pitching 2 scoreless innings with 1 strikeout.

Brian Bosia started on the mound for the Gryphons and limited Whittier Tech to 3 hits and 2 runs while striking out 8 in 7 innings.

Gray finished with 2 hits, 2 RBI and 1 run scored.

Riley Stys had 2 hits, while Jake Trzcienski had an RBI-double.

Eric Airosus and Cole Blades each had hit and scored a run.

Matt Gaudette and Ryan Hickey scored 1 run each.

BISHOP GUERTIN 4, PORTSMOUTH 0. Brett Anderson tossed a 6-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts as Bishop Guertin improved to 14-3.

Taylor Proulx, Billy Gonya and Matt Thibault had 1 hit and 1 RBI apiece for the Cardinals.

DRACUT 9, METHUEN 0. Patrick Crowley tossed a gem for Dracut, limiting Methuen to 5 hits and striking out 4 while going the distance on the mound.

John Cormier had 1 hit and 4 RBI while pacing the Middies’ offense.

Sean McMeniman banged out 2 hits and had 1 RBI.

Danny Robichaud (1 hit), Brad Keefe (2 RBI) and Devin Lambert (1 RBI) helped spark Dracut’s attack.

LAWRENCE 6, LOWELL 3. Lawrence defeated Lowell in an MVC Division 1 game.

Thomas Hassett had 2 hits and scored 2 runs, and John Donovan tallied 2 hits and 2 RBI while leading the way on offense for Lowell.

Jaime Velez had 1 hit.


LOWELL 12, LAWRENCE 0. Freshman Giana LaCedra tossed a perfect game with 7 strikeouts, 5 defensive assists and 1 putout as Lowell blanked Lawrence in an MVC game to improve its record to 13-0. LaCedra chipped in offensively with 3 hits and 1 RBI.

Molly Barrett tallied 3 hits, 4 RBI and scored 1 run.

Meara McPhee checked in with 2 hits, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored, while Mia Ly had 1 hit, 1 RBI and scored 2 runs.
