Spring ISD invites the community to beam signing at new school
Spring ISD will allow the public to leave their print on the beam of a new middle school it is building and plans to open in August 2019.
The beam signing ceremony will take place at the unnamed campus known as middle school number 8 near Northgate Crossing Elementary on Oct. 25 at 9:30 a.m.
“The district has never had a beam signing,” said district spokesperson Karen Garrison.
The new school is one of various projects from the $330 million bond that voters approved in 2016.
The district approved the final guaranteed maximum price of $20 million during its regular meeting earlier this month.
In total, the district approved $35 million toward the school’s construction.
In June, the district chose Kimberly Culley, the former principal of Smith Elementary school, to be the principal of middle school 8 when it opens.
“We are very excited to welcome our Spring ISD families to this celebration,” Culley said in a press release.
The district is also building a second middle school to replace Roberson Middle School as the previous campus is converted into a ninth grade campus.
Both schools are scheduled to open by fall 2019.
Once complete, middle school 8 expects to house about 725 students.
