Volare now open in the former Olmos Pharmacy
Craving pizza and pasta? Italian restaurant Volare has a prescription for that.
The Alamo Heights-based brand’s second location in the former Olmos Pharmacy property at 3902 McCullough Ave. is now open. The original Volare is located at 5054 Broadway.
A menu nearly identical the original is served at the new Volare, with the addition of five seafood dishes including lobster ravioli, bow tie pasta with smoked salmon and linguine with clams. The restaurant is currently a BYOB operation, but wine and beer will be available soon.
Antonio Sorgente and his wife, Pilar De La Vega, the owners of Volare on Broadway, expanded their business to the nearly 80-year-old space in Olmos Park that was famous for old-fashioned milkshakes and sodas.
“Our original spot has a very loyal following, but it’s very tiny and acts more as a pizzeria,” De La Vega said. “We are very excited to take over this historic place and return it to life.”
The new Volare is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. More at volarepizzasa.com or Facebook: @volareitalian.
