Public offices shuttered across N Carolina for Good Friday
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Government services across North Carolina are closing for the Christian commemoration of Good Friday, a religious holiday that recognizes when Jesus Christ was crucified in Jerusalem.
State and local services in North Carolina are largely closed on Friday, along with public universities. Courts and judicial offices are closed, along with driver license offices and license plate agencies.
North Carolina is one of a dozen states that observe the Christian holiday. Most are in the Southeast, but others include New Jersey, Delaware and North Dakota.
Banks, post offices, shopping malls are open. The New York Stock Exchange and other financial markets are closed.
