Grant awarded for park where wood pellet plant is planned
LUCEDALE, Miss. (AP) — A $1.4 million federal grant has been announced to help improve a Mississippi industrial park where a $140 million wood pellet plant is planned.
Mississippi Gulf Coast news outlets report that the U.S. Economic Development Administration grant was announced Thursday. It will benefit the George County Industrial Park in Mississippi. The grant will pay for water and wastewater system improvements and an expansion of a roadway.
The park will be the site of an Enviva Biomass wood pellet plant that officials say will create 90 jobs. It will use pine trees from local farmers to manufacture wood pellets for fuel.
