Sex offender fails to register after moving
A registered sex offender was in jail without bond Thursday night after reportedly failing to notify authorities that he had moved.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Brett Wade Pippin, 30, of Sanford, North Carolina, was booked into the jail on Thursday, charged with felony failure to register as a sex offender/failure to comply with requirements/provided false information.
On June 5, he moved from his address at 290 Harmony Road in Silver Creek without informing Floyd County sex offender registration officers, according to a warrant for his arrest. Under state law, he has to register the address change within 72 hours of the move, the warrant continues.
Pippin also had warrants for undisclosed charges out of Cherokee County, Alabama.
