McLeod Health announces new board members

FLORENCE, S.C. – Two new members have been appointed to the McLeod Health Board of Trustees: Dr. Patrick K. Denton and Ashley Brady.

The McLeod Health Board is a self-perpetuating, 23-member governing board that includes eight physicians, including five emeritus members.

“We are extremely appreciative of the dedication and very hard work of these volunteer board members who embrace the mission of McLeod Health in service to the community and providing the delivery of excellence in health care,” said Rob Colones, president of McLeod Health.

Representing Florence County, Denton is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic treatment of knee and shoulder disorders. He graduated with honors from the University of Michigan. He continued his medical education at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his orthopedic training at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Denton then pursued additional training during his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. He cares for patients at Pee Dee Orthopaedic Associates.

Denton is recognized by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery as a certified sports medicine specialist. In addition, he is a certified sportsmetrics specialist in the prevention of ACL tears in the female athlete.

Denton serves as the orthopedic team provider for Francis Marion University and Florence School District One. He also serves as a physician leader on hospital committees at McLeod Regional Medical Center and as a previous member of the McLeod Health Community Board.

Representing Marion County, Brady is a vice president and principal agent with First Charter Company. He is a lifelong resident of the city of Marion and grew up in the family-owned agency.

In 2017, Brady was elected Mayor of Marion. He is a 1989 graduate of Francis Marion University and was licensed in Property & Casualty the same year. He joined the SC Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Board in 2002 and served as chairman during the 2012-2013 term. He earned his Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) designation in 2002.

Brady’s community involvement includes serving as president of the Marion Rotary Club, past president (twice) of the Marion Chamber of Commerce, Historic Marion Revitalization Association and the Pee Dee Academy board. He is a scout master with Boy Scouts Troop #708 and has hiked Philmont Scout Ranch on three occasions with scouts from Marion.
