West Virginia inmate pleads guilty in fed prison camp escape
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — An inmate has pleaded guilty to escaping from a federal prison camp in West Virginia over the summer.
U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart’s office announced this week that 51-year-old Cheryl McGrath entered the plea in her escape from the Federal Prison Camp at Alderson.
Stuart’s office says McGrath admitted to leaving the facility on July 26 without authorization, then was captured the next day several miles from the prison.
McGrath faces up to an extra five years in prison when she is sentenced on March 6. Court documents say she was in prison for a felony offense of willful failure to pay over tax.
