Beaver Dam Police Beat: July 12, 2018
Destructive squirrel — A man reported hearing a loud boom in the 400 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 5:50 a.m. on Thursday with both sides of the block without power. Alliant Energy responded to the scene. A squirrel was the culprit.
Water main break — Police received a report of a water main break in the 200 block of Roedl Court at 6:48 a.m. on Thursday.
Animal complaint — Police received a report of a dog in a hot car in the 600 block of North Spring Street at 10:18 a.m. on Thursday. An officer made contact with the owner and advised her of the complaint.
Harassment — A woman reported her ex-boyfriend was harassing her at work and at home at 10:37 a.m. on Thursday. Police advised her to get a restraining order and made contact with both parties.
Orphaned duck — Police received a report of an orphaned duck in the 200 block of Beaver Street at 10:49 a.m. on Thursday. The caller was told to take it to the lake. The duck was old enough to survive.
Custody issue — A man reported his ex-wife “strong-armed” his daughter into going with her for a doctor’s appointment in the 200 block of Webster Street at 3:33 p.m. on Thursday. Police advised the caller to address the issue in family court.
Family trouble — A woman reported she picked up a man in the 900 block of North Center Street after seeing marks on him at 3:54 p.m. on Thursday. A man related to the incident was taken to jail.
Fraud — A woman in the 1600 block of North Spring Street reported her daughter charged a new phone to her account without permission at 4:05 p.m. on Thursday. The daughter agreed to return the phone by Friday at 3:30 p.m. The woman will request charges if that does not happen.
Animal complaint — A woman reported a vicious dog in the 100 block of Lakecrest Drive at 6:46 p.m. on Thursday. Police made contact with the owner. The dog was leashed. Police advised the owner not to walk by the woman’s apartment and will check for a license.
Traffic complaint — Police received an anonymous report of a car speeding up and down Lakecrest Drive and Madison Street with a loud exhaust. Police stopped the vehicle for failure to fasten seatbelt and advised the driver of the complaint.
Vandalism — A man reported his vehicle’s window was broken out with a rock found inside. A debit card was missing and canceled.
Retail theft — Police responded to a report of retail theft from Shopko, 822 Park Avenue, at 9:24 p.m. on Thursday. The woman was taken to jail on probation and warrant.
