Man arrested on I-15 in Orem with reportedly 30 pounds of meth
Orem police arrested a California man on Thursday for reportedly planning to deal meth.
Jose Luis Michel, 27, was arrested on suspicion of the third-degree felonies of distributing, offering or arranging the distribution of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. He was also arrested on suspicion of the infractions of failure to operate within a single land and improper lane change in an occupied lane.
Police pulled Michel over Thursday morning after Michel reportedly didn’t signal properly before changing lanes and moved back and forth across two lanes on Interstate 15, according to a police report.
Michel reportedly told police he had been driving from California and was very tired. He showed signs of fatigued driving. He gave police the address to where he was going in West Valley City, which the officer recognized as a strip mall.
Michel gave officers permission to search the vehicle and officers found about 30 pounds of meth inside a large speaker inside the vehicle, reports state.
