January 24, 2019

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island’s congressmen have announced their subcommittee appointments.

U.S. Rep. David Cicilline will chair the House Judiciary Committee subcommittee to perform oversight and enforce antitrust policies.

The Democratic congressman announced Wednesday he will chair the Antitrust, Commercial and Administrative Law subcommittee. The committee oversees antitrust law enforcement, which deals with competition and monopolies.

Cicilline has taken aim at large technology companies in the past, saying “Facebook cannot be trusted to regulate itself.”

Democratic Rep. Jim Langevin will chair the House Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Intelligence and Emerging Threats and Capabilities. He has served as ranking minority member of the subcommittee for the past eight years.
