Cash Dispute Leads to Alleged Assault
LOWELL -- A Lowell man was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon following a dispute over $100 in the Highlands late Monday afternoon.
An unidentified man and a woman told police that, during an argument over cash, 28-year-old Aminu Sanu threatened them with a handgun while on Pratt Avenue in the Centralville neighborhood, according to Capt. Jonathan Webb.
Sanu was taken into custody at around 6:20 p.m., but a gun was not recovered. There were no reported injuries.
Police believed the weapon may have been taken from the scene by another party, according to Webb. The vehicle holding those believed to be involved was stopped at around 7 p.m. on Lakeview Avenue. However, the gun was not found.
During the traffic stop, 26-year-old Samuel Kasozi, of Lowell, was arrested on a warrant for possession of cocaine.
Sanu and Kasozi were to be arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court, but the results of those proceedings were not available..
