Historic Aiken Foundation to present 2019 Preservation Awards
The Historic Aiken Foundation, or HAF, will present its 2019 Preservation Awards during a ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Aiken County Historical Museum.
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions will be the title sponsor for the ninth consecutive year.
The event is free and open to the public. There will be a reception afterward.
For 45 years, HAF has tried to preserve the historic visual character of Aiken by promoting the preservation of historical sites, residences and other buildings while increasing the appreciation of preservation among the general public.
During the past 14 years alone, more than 100 preservation efforts in eight award categories have been nominated and approved by the HAF board of directors for recognition.
For 2019, awards will be given in three categories: Stewardship, Residential Preservation and Adaptive Use.
Each category recognizes different preservation activities.
After receiving their awards, the honorees will briefly discuss their projects.
The historical museum is at 433 Newberry St. S.W.
