Final fireworks display over Omaha waterway coming up
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Nebraskans have one final chance to catch a fireworks display over the waterway at Omaha’s Gene Leahy Mall.
The Omaha World-Herald reports that this will be the last year to see the reflection of the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Spectacular in the waterway before it is filled next year. The waterway is being developed into a different kind of park.
Ted Kallhoff is regional vice president of J&M Displays. He told the newspaper that the company will explode about 80 large shells during the 13-minute New Year’s Eve display. It’s choreographed to 1960s music.
Kallhoff says the dry, cold winter air makes fireworks last longer and explode with crisper colors. He says it also makes explosions louder.
