Libertarian candidate meet-and-greet Friday at DeKalb library
DeKALB – The Libertarian Party of DeKalb County will host a candidate meet-and-greet Friday at the DeKalb Public Library, 309 Oak St.
Gubernatorial candidate Kash Jackson and lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Sanj Mohip will attend, as well as Claire Ball for comptroller, Mike Leheney for treasurer, Steve Dutner for secretary of state and Bubba Harsy for attorney general, according to a news release.
The events will go from 7 to 9 p.m., and Jackson said he hopes people will attend to learn about his platform and Libertarian ideals.
“People have to learn what the Libertarian platform looks like and how it will benefit the state of Illinois,” he said in the news release. “The Libertarian Party, while very socially compassionate, is much more fiscally responsible than the other two parties.”
Ciara Ihm, chairwoman of the Libertarian Party of DeKalb County, said the event will be a great way to introduce the candidates to the public.
“The [party] is eager to host this forum for the public to get to know our candidates on a more personal level, and to show Illinois that there is a third option they can depend on,” she said.
