Westchester Broadway Theatre: World’s top dancers to show off fancy footwork
Some of the top ballroom dancers in the world are set to twirl, chasse and hop this weekend as part of the Superstars of Ballroom show, which draws top talent from around the world.
They will come together at the Westchester Broadway Theatre to present Argentine Tango, cha cha, rhumba, samba, paso doble, mambo, jive, waltz, quickstep, foxtrot and Viennese waltz. Among the performers will be Charlie and Emily Roberts, who are known on the international stage for their award-winning ballroom dance, including two World Amateur Smooth Champions honors, and many national awards, as well. Locally, they teach at the Metropolitan Dance Center in Stamford.
Emily Roberts, who grew up in Connecticut, attended Brigham Young University in Utah, which has the largest ballroom dance program in America. It is there she met her husband. While in college, they won four world titles and two British ballroom championships.
The other dancers, all award-winners, include Antonio ’Junior” Cervila and Guadalupe Garcia, who are known around the world for their skill at Argentine tango; Sam Hacke and Katarina Hermanova, of Slovakia; Pasha Pashkov and Daniella Karagach of Moscow and the United States, respectively; Kurt Roberts and Anneliese Velasco of the United States; and the Russian Latin team Alexander Chernositov and Arina Grishanina.
