SYDNEY (AP) — Football Federation Australia says the Socceroos will play World Cup hosts Brazil in Brasilia on Sept. 7.

The friendly will be played at the Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha Stadium in Brazil's capital. The teams last met in the group phase of the 2006 World Cup in Germany when Brazil won 2-0.

Australia coach Holger Osieck said in an FFA statement Thursday that with the World Cup less than a year away the match "is a great opportunity for us to get an impression of the environment we will face."

In June, Australia qualified for its third consecutive World Cup tournament when it finished second its group behind Japan in Asian qualifying.
