The McCurdy softball team met a familiar foe Saturday morning, and met a familiar fate.

Santa Rosa used a seven-run sixth inning to fashion a 13-4 win over the Lady Bobcats for fifth place in the Moriarty Lady Pintos Softball Tournament. A week earlier, the Lady Lions upended McCurdy 10-4 to take third place in the Lady Lions Softball Tournament.

The rematch saw the Lady Bobcats (2-4) stay close, as they used a two-run third inning to tie the score at 2-2. Santa Rosa (6-3) rebounded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third and added single runs in the next two innings, but McCurdy cut the deficit to 6-4 with a two-run sixth.

Sophomore starting pitcher Jeneva Serrano ran out of gas for the Lady Bobcats in the bottom of the frame as the Lady Lions put the finishing touches on a 16-hit attack. Serrano did go 4-for-4 to lead the Lady Bobcats, while Sabryna Garcia was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
