Burglary suspect dies of gunshot wounds, no charges filed
MAYS LANDING, N.J. (AP) — A man has died from gunshot wounds sustained while breaking into a home, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.
Police responded to the home on Moores Avenue in Mullica Township on Monday and found Paul Destefano, 30, of Mullica Township, wounded, the prosecutor’s office said. He was airlifted to a hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries.
Destefano died at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center on Wednesday. Authorities were awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause and manner of death.
Authorities have not released the name of the person who shot Destefano. No charges have been filed.
The incident remained under investigation.
