JCTC CARROLLTON ON TRACK FOR AUGUST OPENING
Work continues at the new Jefferson Community and Technical College campus in Carrollton as the date has been set for a fall ribbon-cutting. Campus director Susan Carlisle said a ceremony to officially open the building is set for 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at the site. Over the summer, she said, the interior of the building will be set up for fall semester classes to begin on Aug. 14. Crews first broke ground on the project in April last year. The new building, located across from General Butler State Resort park on KY 227, comes with a $16 million price tag - $4 million was raised locally to qualify for state funding. “The leaders of this community had a vision 30 years ago for a college campus presence. While many students and others have benefited from the prior and current location the presence of a 50,000-foot state of the art facility will attract a wider base of students and provide new educational and enrichment opportunities for the region,” Carlisle said in an email. Carlisle said plans are to close the Main Street facility once the new campus is completed.
