Renaissance instrument entertains crowd at FCCOG
Tod Hedrick played the viola da gamba, a popular Renaissance and Baroque period instrument, with his ensemble as part of the Sunday Afternoons Live concert series at First Congregational Church of Old Greenwich on Sunday.
Also known as viol, the instrument was a precursor to the cello that was most popular in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Hedrick and his small ensemble performed mixed repertoire for voice and period instruments from the sounds of the Middle Ages to the time of J.S. Bach.
