Danbury, Red Cross partner for free smoke alarm installation

March 1, 2018 GMT

DANBURY — The American Red Cross in Connecticut and Danbury Fire Department will offer free smoke alarms and installations to residents on March 17.

Danbury residents can schedule a visit online at www.soundthealarm.org/Connecticut or by calling 877- 287-3327 and choosing No. 1 on the menu to request a smoke alarm installation.

In addition to installing smoke alarms, teams visiting homes will share fire safety and preparedness information and volunteers will help families develop personalized family escape plans to use in the event a fire breaks out in their home.

“Home fires are a major concern for us and we will continue to use every means possible to stop these tragic events,” Danbury Fire Chief T.J. Wiedl said. “We have been working with the community to help with smoke alarm installations for years and this is a chance to reach as many of our residents as possible. Smoke Alarms save lives, please schedule a visit to help us keep you safe.”
