Reds hire ex-Nitro star J.R. House as base, catching coach

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds have hired former Nitro High School football standout J.R. House as their third base and catching coach, according to an article in the Cincinnati Enquirer.

House, 39, is the third coach the Reds have hired on new manager David Bell’s staff, joining Derek Johnson (pitching) and Turner Ward (hitting).

House has spent the last seven seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and last year’s was the team’s minor league field coordinator.
