Modesto police searching for man suspected in son abduction

MODESTO, Calif. (AP) — Investigators in central California are searching for a 6-year-old boy they say was abducted from his Modesto home by his father.

The Modesto Police Department on Monday night issued an Amber Alert for Jayce Cosso who was taken by his father, 41-year-old John Cosso, from his mother’s home.

The boy’s mother, Kimberly Velente, tells reporters John Cosso showed up with a group of people who pepper sprayed their way into the house.

She says she grabbed her son and ran to the garage where she locked herself in her car but the abductors broke the window and took the boy.

Police say John Cosso has a shaved head and tattoos on his face and that he was last seen driving a 2012 black Ford Fusion with California license plate 8BDY654.
