LaJean D. Harrell

LaJean Diana Harrell, 67, of Mount Carmel, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 3, 2017, at Wabash General Hospital with her loving family by her side.

She was born on Feb. 8, 1950, in Decker, Indiana, the daughter of Ira and Helen (Anthis) Doades. LaJean came from a large family having ten siblings.

She married Stephen Harrell on Nov. 27, 1970, at EUM Church in Mount Carmel. Together they treasured 46 years of marriage centered around their family.

LaJean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. LaJean’s lived a life that was very family-oriented.

She found her greatest joy in life was caring for those that were close to her. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she was their biggest fan.

LaJean and Stephen enjoyed time they spent travelling together. A couple favorite trips were when they went to Opryland Hotel and to Branson. She loved listening to country music.

Given LaJean’s caring spirit, she often volunteered at the schools in Mount Carmel. She was a member of Gospel Kingdom Church. LaJean will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

LaJean will be remembered by her loving husband, Stephen Harrell of Mount Carmel; son, Stephen Harrell and wife Jennifer of Evansville, Indiana; daughter, Lisa Pfeil and husband Stan of Owensville, Indiana; five grandchildren, Austin Turner, Kolten Turner, Tyler Harrell, Max Harrell and Nicolas Lewis; siblings Esta (Bill) Erdman of Mount Carmel, Richard (Pat) Doades of Decker, Indiana, Deanie (Fred) Sherman of Mount Carmel, Janet (Larry) Carrie of Vincennes, Indiana, Mary Cavada of Mount Carmel, Joyce Cullison of Jasper, Indiana; sister-in-law, Nevalene Doades of Humble, Texas; brother-in-law, Mike Perkins of Mount Carmel; and many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

LaJean was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Robert Doades, Eva Perkins, Carl Doades and Phillip Doades.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Gospel Kingdom Church, 1440 W. Third St., Mount Carmel, IL.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Gospel Kingdom Church with Brother John Peach, Keith Doades and Jim Gidcumb officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in LaJean’s memory to Gospel Kingdom Church.
