WAYNE - A Buffalo Middle School student will represent Wayne County in the Regional Spelling Bee Competition after winning first place in a countywide bee.

Buffalo 8th Grader Connor McCann will compete in the competition after beating competitors from all other Wayne County middle schools.

McCann is a member of the Buffalo football and wrestling team. He plans to either be a veterinarian or zoologist. He will be attending Spring Valley High School and plans to continue his academic and athletic ventures.

“We are so proud of him!” Buffalo Middle School Principal Elizabeth Ryder said.

Second place in the county spelling bee was Crum Middle School student Jocelyn Simpson and third place was Chase Napier, also from Crum.
