U.S. Marshals arrest suspect in rape, robbery of Akron woman

AKRON, Ohio — A man accused of breaking into a woman’s apartment last month and robbing and raping her has been arrested, police say.

Jesse Williams II, 33, of Akron, was taken into custody Monday morning by U.S. Marshals on the 1500 block of Brittain Road in the Chapel Hill area.

Williams had been wanted on an arrest warrant on two counts of rape, two counts of gross sexual imposition, three counts of kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, tampering, and disrupting public service.

Akron police say Williams forced his way into the victim’s apartment on Alphada Avenue, also in the Chapel Hill area, at about 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 3.

Williams robbed the woman, police say, and when she tried to call 911, he took her phone and raped her. He then left the apartment with stolen items.

Police say Williams was identified by the victim and also by DNA evidence.
